Del Mar Neighborhoods
The beautiful seaside village of Del Mar was established in 1885. Del Mar Neighborhoods were developed as a seaside resorts and vacation gateways. Since then, Del Mar has been destination of choice for many Hollywood stars, horse racing enthusiasts, and golfers. This quaint community has a population of approximately 4,500 residences all located within a 2.1 square mile coastal area nestled between Torrey Pines State Park and Solana Beach.
Today Del Mar residents and visitors can enjoy beautiful beaches and parks, fine art, award-winning restaurants, famous Del Mar Fairgrounds and Racetrack which was made popular by the great Bing Crosby. The heart of Del Mar is located at Camino Del Mar and 15th Street. Residents who live on Camino Del Mar and between 9th and 15th street are in close proximity to everything, including Del Mar Plaza. They also have easy access to the ocean, beaches, parks, and Del Mar’s Farmers Market which is located at Camino Del Mar and 10th street every Saturday morning. Del Mar also attacks outdoor lovers, golfers (Del Mar Golf Center) and surfers.
There are several neighborhoods in Del Mar. Starting from the south end of the community is Del Mar Terrace. Moving north there is Del Mar Heights, Del Mar Bluffs, Olde Del Mar, and the Beach Colony. East of highway 5 there are the neighborhoods of the Polo Club, Rancho Del Mar, and north Via de la Valle. The sense of community is very strong in Del Mar. This city also has very
organized and active city council.
